Summer School Italian Motor Valley Experience

The High School Advanced Engineering Summer Program – Italian Motor Valley Experience offers a 2-week university experience focused on cutting-edge automotive trends.

Designed specifically for high school seniors, this program provides a thorough understanding of the fundamentals of high-performance vehicles through lectures delivered by university professors and in-depth exploration of the world’s leading automotive companies.

The Italian Motor Valley Experience offers a variety of academic and business content, and cultural activities to discover the Italian Motor Valley. This unforgettable learning opportunity is aimed at highly motivated candidates with a strong STEM background, who must be at least 16 years old at the time of application.

This MUNER summer school is hosted at the Department of Engineering Enzo Ferrari (Modena Campus) and is organized by University of Modena and Reggio Emilia with the collaboration of Fondazione Marco Biagi (UNIMORE) and Victoria Languages and Cultures.

Offer:

An unforgettable learning experience in the heart of the Motor Valley, a perfect blend of academic and cultural activities.

Target:

High school student in their final years, with a strong STEM background and high motivation.

Regarding age requirements, participants must be at least 16 years old by the time of registration due to non-negotiable technical and administrative reasons. Registration for each edition takes place within the first half of April, and the exact deadline is announced at the beginning of the year.

Duration:

2-week programme, from 12 July to 25 July 2026.

Location:

On site at the Department of Engineering Enzo Ferrari (Modena Campus), in the Emilia Romagna region of Italy.

Activities:

Lectures held by MUNER professors and researchers; special seminars and factory tours in collaboration with MUNER partner companies; cultural activities in collaboration with Victoria Languages and Cultures.

All activities will be in English.

Participants:

Minimum 20 students  – Maximum 30 students (16+).

Places will be allocated on the basis of candidate assessment.

Registration:

Candidates will be selected on the basis of the scientific committee’s unquestionable assessment.


Applications are submitted online. A strengthened desk-evaluation phase will be conducted, with increased emphasis on the motivation letter and, where required, a reference letter from an academic instructor. Only the top-ranked applicants, up to a maximum number of interviews that ensures a sustainable process, will be invited to a virtual motivational interview.

The final group of selected students will be informed by email regarding the registration procedure. In the event of vacancies, the waiting list provides an additional opportunity to consider applications from strong candidates

Selection Criteria:
  • Outstanding high school academic record: Basic knowledge of physics and trigonometry and a minimum GPA of 3.7 (or equivalent) or A-level grade;
  • STEM background: high achievement based on curriculum and extracurricular activities;
  • Student motivation statement, commitment and positive attitude;
  • English proficiency: language advanced certificate or native speaker status.

A non-refundable deposit of Eur 500 is required to confirm your enrolment once you have been selected.
The school is offering one scholarship for the 2026 edition: eligibility is contingent upon the applicant providing evidence of an existing need-based scholarship from their own institution. Expressions of interest are collected during the online application phase. Further information prior to the motivational interviewing phase.
