University talent and innovation take centre stage in Emilia-Romagna

MUNER joins the Regione Emilia-Romagna in celebrating the students, faculty advisors and university teams turning academic knowledge into real-world innovation.

On Monday, 7 September, the Regione Emilia-Romagna welcomed students, faculty advisors and representatives of university teams from across the region for a special meeting dedicated to talent, innovation and the future of technology.

The event, held in Bologna, brought together the President of the Regione Emilia-Romagna Michele de Pascale, Vice President Vincenzo Colla, the Rectors of the region’s four universities and representatives of the student teams involved in international competitions and technology projects.

MUNER was there to represent and support the community of students who experience, every day, the value of learning by doing.

From the classroom to international competition

The projects presented during the meeting cover a remarkably broad technological spectrum.

From Formula SAE and MotoStudent to autonomous vehicles, electric boats, planetary exploration rovers and aerospace projects, students are working in multidisciplinary teams to design, build, test and improve complex technological solutions.

These experiences go far beyond competition.

They allow students to apply the knowledge developed through their university studies to real engineering challenges, while developing essential skills in teamwork, project management, problem-solving, innovation and collaboration.

They also create a direct connection between universities and the industrial ecosystem of Emilia-Romagna — one of the key elements of the region’s ability to innovate and remain competitive on the international stage.

A shared investment in young talent

The meeting also highlighted the commitment of the Regione Emilia-Romagna to supporting young people and their projects.

The regional initiative supports 12 university projects involving around 900 students, with €400,000 in fundingdedicated to talent development and innovation.

As President Michele de Pascale underlined, supporting these projects means investing in the university system and in advanced technologies, while creating the conditions for young talents to build their future in Emilia-Romagna.

Vice President Vincenzo Colla also emphasised the role of these teams as laboratories where students can develop concrete skills and work on the technological challenges shaping the future — from sustainable mobility and automation to robotics and aerospace.

The Motor Valley starts with its people

For MUNER, this vision is at the heart of its educational model.

The Motor Valley University of Emilia-Romagna brings together the region’s universities and its world-leading industrial ecosystem to offer students an education where theory and practice constantly meet.

Formula SAE and MotoStudent are among the clearest examples of this approach: throughout the year, students work alongside faculty advisors, develop prototypes and compete internationally, gaining first-hand experience of what it means to design, engineer and innovate as part of a team.

But the same spirit extends well beyond motorsport.

Whether it is an electric race car, an autonomous vehicle, a racing motorcycle, an electric boat, a planetary rover or another advanced technology project, the principle remains the same:

give young people the opportunity to build the future, not simply study it.

MUNER would like to thank President Michele de Pascale, Vice President Vincenzo Colla, the Regione Emilia-Romagna, the four universities, the faculty advisors and, above all, all the students who dedicate their talent, passion and time to these projects.

The future of the Motor Valley is being built today…one project, one prototype and one team at a time.
