EMERGE 2026: students explore the future of green transportation systems in the Motor Valley

The 2026 edition of the Electrical Machines and Drives for Green Transportation Systems (EMERGE) Summer School is currently underway, bringing together students from different countries for two weeks of advanced training in the heart of the Motor Valley.

Since the beginning of the programme, participants have been engaging in a rich combination of academic lectures, hands-on activities, and networking opportunities focused on the technologies that are shaping the future of sustainable mobility.

Through sessions led by international experts, students are deepening their knowledge of electrical machines, power electronics, and electric drives, while practical software-based activities allow them to apply theoretical concepts to real engineering challenges.

Beyond the classroom, the Summer School offers participants the opportunity to experience the unique innovation ecosystem of Emilia-Romagna through company visits and direct interaction with industry professionals, creating valuable connections between academia and industry.

More than a training programme, EMERGE represents an international learning experience where students, researchers, and professionals exchange ideas, perspectives, and expertise on the transition towards greener transportation systems.

Organized in collaboration with IEEE and IEEE Power Electronics Society (PELS), with the support of Fondazione Democenter, and endorsed by MOST and Motus-E, the School is part of the MUSE – Motorvehicle University Skills Empowerment project, promoted by the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, the University of Bologna, MUNER, and Fondazione Marco Biagi, and co-funded by the Emilia-Romagna Region and ESF+ 2021/2027.
